Today marked the official opening and our first meeting within the international postgraduate Master’s programme International Disaster Management and Civil Protection (EUMA) at the University of Vienna.

Prof. Dr. Vladimir M. Cvetković truly pleased to be part of this international and interdisciplinary academic community and to contribute to the course “Climate Change and Global Transitions – Challenges for Disaster Management.”

What makes EUMA particularly valuable is its ability to bring together academic expertise, professional practice, international perspectives, and real-world disaster management experience. In a world increasingly shaped by climate change, cascading and systemic risks, geopolitical and technological transformations, programmes like EUMA provide an important platform for developing the knowledge, leadership and cooperation needed to address tomorrow’s challenges.

It was a pleasure to meet the students and fellow lecturers today, exchange first ideas, and start what I believe will be a highly stimulating academic journey.

I am looking forward to the discussions ahead, new perspectives, and opportunities for international academic and professional cooperation.
