    The Scientific-Professional Society for Disaster Risk Management (SPS-DRM) is pleased to congratulate Prof. Dr. Vladimir M. Cvetković on his election to the position of Full Professor of Disaster Risk Management at the Faculty of Security Studies, University of Belgrade.

    This appointment represents an important academic milestone and a well-deserved recognition of nearly two decades of dedicated work in research, higher education, mentoring, and international cooperation in the field of disaster risk management.

    Throughout his academic career, Prof. Dr. Cvetković has consistently demonstrated a commitment to advancing scientific knowledge and strengthening the resilience of communities through education, research, and collaboration.

    His contributions include:

    • More than 350 scientific publications and 30 books
    • 6,840 Google Scholar citations (H-index: 41)
    • Participation in more than 12 national and international research projects
    • Presentations at more than 150 international scientific conferences
    • More than 400 peer reviews for leading international scientific journals
    • Supervision of more than 130 bachelor’s theses, 50 master’s theses, and 4 doctoral dissertations, while serving on more than 40 master’s and doctoral examination committees

    In addition to his academic achievements, Prof. Dr. Cvetković has taught and collaborated with numerous distinguished institutions, including the University of Belgrade, the University of Vienna, Montanuniversität Leoben, FH Campus Wien – University of Applied Sciences, the Faculty of Organizational Sciences, the Academy of Applied Studies Belgrade, and the National Defence School “Vojvoda Radomir Putnik.”

    He also serves as Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Disaster Risk Management and the International Journal of Contemporary Security Studies, while leading several important scientific initiatives, including the Scientific-Professional Society for Disaster Risk Management, the International Institute for Disaster Research (IIDR), and ProSafeNet, all dedicated to strengthening international cooperation between researchers and practitioners.

    This achievement reflects not only individual excellence but also a long-standing commitment to academic integrity, scientific excellence, and the development of future generations of researchers and professionals.

    As a Society, we are particularly proud that our President continues to make significant contributions to the international advancement of disaster risk management through research, education, editorial leadership, and institutional development.

    To young researchers and professionals, this achievement serves as a reminder that perseverance, dedication, and continuous learning remain the foundation of every successful academic career. Challenges are an integral part of the journey, and it is through overcoming them that knowledge, resilience, and character are developed.

    The Scientific-Professional Society for Disaster Risk Management once again extends its sincere congratulations to Prof. Dr. Vladimir M. Cvetković on this outstanding achievement and wishes him continued success in advancing science, higher education, and international cooperation for the benefit of safer and more resilient communities.

    The Association “Scientific-Professional Society for Disaster Risk Management”  (www.spsdr.com) is a non-governmental and non-profit association, established for an indefinite period, for the purpose of achieving objectives related to the advancement of scientific and professional knowledge and practice in the field of disaster risk management, emergencies, security, protection and community resilience, through the implementation of quantitative and/or qualitative research, publishing activities (journals, books and other publications), organizing national and international events, conducting formal and non-formal forms of education and professional development, preparing expert analyses, risk assessments and planning documents, developing digital platforms and knowledge bases, as well as other activities in accordance with the law and this Statute.

    The International Journal of Disaster Risk Management (IJDRM) is a double-blind peer-reviewed, open-access international scientific journal, published twice a year, dedicated to advancing interdisciplinary research, policy, and professional practice in the fields of disaster risk management, disaster risk reduction, hazards, emergencies, and resilience. The journal provides an international platform for researchers, academics, practitioners, policymakers, emergency managers, and other professionals to exchange knowledge, research findings, and innovative approaches to disaster prevention and management.
